June Prizes: Mountain Hardwear Summer Adventure Outfits

by Skimble
With a new month, comes another opportunity for all you active Skimblers to win a prize!
Thanks to our good friends at Mountain Hardwear, this month we will be giving away some awesome summer adventure outfits!
For men, we have the Ravine Short Sleeve Shirt and Wildlands Shorts.  Here's Gabe looking good in his Mountain Hardwear gear as he prepares for his next great adventure:
Gabe enjoyed the Mountain Hardwear shirt and shorts in Yosemite National Park.  Both are lightweight and cooling, important during the hot dry summers in the High Sierras.  Also, the pants have a great lining, which makes them super comfortable!  From the discreet shirt pockets to a key holder in the shorts, Mountain Hardwear has all the details right.

And the gear for the women is just as cool including the Loess Tank Top and High Step Judo Crops.

Maria put the women's outfit to work at a yoga studio, a TRX workout class, a rock climbing competition, and on a roadtrip to Smith Rock State Park, OR.  The best thing about the top? It's form fitting yet comfortable and looks great with its criss-cross back design.  The pants?  Also a hit, especially since they come with a seamless right side pocket that's perfect for your ID, lip balm and iPhone!
Check out the action-shot of her in the Judo Crops on a 5.13a at the TRS4 Touchstone Climbing Competition, where she place 2nd overall in the series:
As you can tell, all of us at Skimble are huge fans of Mountain Hardwear's gear and athletes.  Here's Mike Libecki and Maria at a Lombardi Sports event last month in San Francisco:
How to win:  Each day in June that you track at least one activity on Skimble, you earn one contest entry.  At the end of the month, winners are randomly chosen from these entries.

Be sure to visit Moutian Harwear's Facebook and Tiwitter pages and give them some props.

Fall into the Outdoors

by Skimble

October is well underway and you may have seen the leaves changing color.  First things first: get inspired to be active!

Let's consider some fun and unique ways to be nimble:

Curious about Yoga, Pilates, and the secrets of the downward facing dog?  Why not try a beginner's class like Mae K recently did.  Then, head into the backcountry and track your hikes like Sarah I and Emma C.  Perhaps you're living the climber lifestyle?  Check out some vertical adventures including friends bouldering in Yosemite National Park and Mike P’s hard sport ascents!  If you can't get 'out there', unleash your active self locally at the gym and achieve goals just like Ken HSophia B, and George S have.  Tantek C and Gian F have also been active in their cities and Stella M recently enjoyed a bike ride around Central Park in NYC.

Need a bit more inspiration to loosen up your sweat glands?  Why not train for the Big Sur Half Marathon like Minji W and Wayne J or go running along the streets of San Francisco like Paul M?  Maybe crossing that glorious finish line isn't your thing.  You could get busy by with kickball games like Ariana V or canoeing like Alea T.  Perhaps lying on the beach in Hawaii, climbing with an ocean view, and learning to surf is your watery calling?  Sounds exactly what Joyce K and Maria L are stoked to do next month!

After all these activities, you'll probably want to refuel and what better way than to grab some Clif Shot Bloks and plan your next active trip.  Whatever you do, track it on Skimble.  You'll get a bunch of activity points that will surely impress your friends ;p

Be nimble with Skimble!

by Skimble

Meet Skimble: the online tool to help you plan, track and discover your active life.  We want to help you get inspired to be active with local workouts and far away travel adventures!

Who are we?  Gabe and Maria are the adventure seekers behind Skimble.  Gabe was born in Boulder, CO, grew up near Boston, and enjoys rock climbing, hiking, and skiing.  Maria is from Canada, was a former gymnast, and enjoys yoga, pilates, and rock climbing.  We love being active and creating meaningful technology.  This passion of ours led us to develop Skimble.  You can find out more about us here.

It's been about a month since we've beta launched and we wanted to share with you a few summer highlights.

For starters, it's been whirlwind of startup activity at Skimble HQ.  We participated in the inaugural semester of TheFunded Founder Institute and there was never was a dull moment.
TechCrunch helped announce our beta launch in September, where they included a fun video of co-founder Maria Ly demonstrating one of her silly human tricks:

You may have also seen us on Thrillist, Examiner, TheFunded, and GigaOM!

Of course, we've been really active too and have shared news updates and photos on our Skimble Facebook page and Skimble Twitter page.
We also made activity-based trips out to Yosemite National Park, North and South Lake Tahoe, Malibu Creek State Park CA, Smith Rock State Park OR, Boulder CO, NYC, and even Toronto Canada.

We're really excited about sharing Skimble with the active world and love getting feedback from our users.

So what are you waiting for?  Be nimble with Skimble!
