Sports Spotlight: Soccer & The World Cup 2010

Right now, the United States is opening its second game in the 2010 World Cup against Slovenia. The 1-1 tie against Britain energized soccer fans across the country, who make up for their relatively few numbers with pure, unadulterated passion. Sports bars are filling as we speak. And the US is, for the first time, considered the favorite.

To view all of the World Cup 2010 action, head to ESPN3 and ESPN Soccernet.

San Franciscans can catch some games on a giant screen at City Hall, and the sports-bar-inclined can head to the Public House, the Mercury Lounge, and many, many other places. Look for the signs on the sidewalk. It's 6:30AM and even those who aren't always soccer-inclined have South Africa on our minds.
