It's July 1st and you know what that means...it's time to pick Skimble's June contest winner...big congrats goes out to Kate B & James A. Each get their own Mountain Hardwear summer adventure outfit!
Happy Summer Solstice! Today is the longest day and shortest night of the year, as well as the official first day of summer (though of course you've been soaking up the sun for a while before this.) So get outside, enjoy the sun's rays and the good weather, have a barbeque, and Skimble your way through the best months of the year!
Some great hiking locations near San Francisco: Mount Tamalpais, Point Reyes, and the Marin Headlands.
Track your hikes and your destinations on Skimble! And while you're at it, stock up on clothes for the summer at the Skimble shop.
Here's something fun to try in Yosemite Valley: the Alcove Swing.
If you want a break from all the hiking and climbing that the Valley has to offer, the Swing is low-exertion and provides endless entertainment.
Located on the famous El Capitan, the Alcove Swing is accessible by a short hike. Bring a harness, a camera and a sense of humor. Also, we suggest you bring a grigri as a way to get down, or else you might end up like these Skimblers:
What can we say? Yosemite just looks different when seen from the end of a pendulum.
So today is National Donut Day but tomorrow's National Trails Day...way cooler!
