Meet Darlene Taylor, one of Skimble’s featured Trainers!
She caught our eye because of her dedicated 15-year history of coaching people to become more active. After graduating from college with a B.S. in Health and Wellness including a minor in Coaching, Darlene began her coaching practice. When she’s not training clients, you may find her on Venice Beach serving herself a serious workout (she’s a 5x nationally-qualified bikini competitor). No excuses for this powerhouse!
We sat down with Darlene Taylor to learn more about her favorite workouts, as well as what keeps her healthy and motivated in her daily fitness routine.
Q 1. What is your favorite type of workout right now?
Darlene: My favorite workouts at the moment are high intensity bootcamp style workouts, like what is in the Body Blast Bootcamp program in Workout Trainer. I like that I can do these workouts anywhere, at home, in the park or even when I’m traveling. I LOVE these workouts because I hit every muscle group for a great full body workout.
Q 2. How does the Workout Trainer app help you as a fitness professional?
Darlene: Workout Trainer is great for my online clients! It’s helpful because the workouts range from no equipment to a variety of equipment, and some even include pilates/yoga poses. As a Verified Trainer I love that members can discover me and follow my updates, including tips and advice! Also, my clients have told me they feel encouraged and motivated by the online community within the app.
Q 3. What is your favorite feature in Workout Trainer?
Darlene: My favorite thing is to share motivational posts, like inspirational quotes, workout photos, and snaps of my healthy meal plans. It’s not just exercise you need to see results, food is a huge part of your plan to be healthy and even lose excess weight. It feels great when this fitness community gets inspired to eat healthy! I also love how I can create quick 5-minute workouts for people to try.
Q 4. What keeps you motivated to stay fit?
Darlene: For me, there are many reasons why I want to stay fit! Being healthy and fit makes me happy and gives me a lot of energy. I want to live a long and healthy life, look young, and prevent any chronic disease as best I can. Most importantly, I want to lead by example for my clients. I can’t preach it, and then not live by my own advice. That wouldn’t be right!
Q 5. Share a secret fitness/health tip with us!
Darlene: My secret is to do what I love to do! The key is to start small, find a trainer, a training program, or maybe a class that you enjoy. If you prefer working out at home, you can use a fitness app like Workout Trainer to find workouts and engage with a supportive community. I always play my favorite music while working out to keep myself motivated. Baby steps lead to big results, so take it as slow as you need to, and always think long term!
I also like to create healthy versions my favorite meals, that way I can still enjoy the food I love, while keeping my healthy eating goals on track.
