Meet Daniel Bediako, Skimble‘s featured Trainer! A born athlete, Daniel grew up competing in triple and long jump in New Zealand. His desire to help other people reach their fitness potential led him to a career in fitness coaching. We recently had the chance to chat with Daniel and learn about his coaching style along with some pretty cool hidden talents.
Tell us a bit about your background and where you’re from.
Daniel: I am from Auckland, New Zealand. My journey into athletics and sports started over 25 years ago at the age of 14 when I began competing in triple and long jump, and has been a driving passion in my life ever since. After achieving national titles in New Zealand in triple jump, I have not given up on reaching this level again. My desire to perform at my physical best has allowed me to turn my passion into a career and I now work as a Personal Trainer, Athletics Coach, Nutritionist, and Sport Scientist, showing individuals how they can reach their fitness goals too.
What inspired you to become a personal trainer?
Daniel: My passion for fitness and the desire to help other people reach their fitness potential inspired me to become a personal trainer. Being an athlete, I have experienced the benefit of staying fit which not only heals your body but also heals your mind.
What are your training specialties?
Daniel: My training specialties are weight loss, muscle toning, plyometrics, athletic performance, and strength and conditioning.
What’s your favorite Workout Trainer feature?
Daniel: I’ve found great value for myself and my clients in the variety of content available in the “Strengthen Core” category in the app. Often overlooked, but a strong core is key to performing all exercises properly to avoid injuries.
Who are your heroes?
Daniel: David Goggins and Tom Bilyeu. They are motivational speakers who motivate others to become better in all walks of life – check them out!
Daniel: Being an inspiration to others as well as being an athlete motivates me to stay fit. However, my main motivation is seeing other people achieve their fitness goals and gain self-confidence.
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Daniel: My guilty pleasure is ‘Arnott’s Tim Tams’ biscuits from Australia. I treat myself to them at least once a month.
Daniel: I can fly planes and have extensive knowledge of aviation.
Do you have any go-to training gear that you would recommend?
Daniel: Nothing in particular, but I will usually recommend shoes that have good insoles and provide good support to my client.
Please share a secret health/fitness tip with the Skimble community…
Daniel: “Believing in yourself is the first key step to success”. No matter what other people tell you that you can or cannot do, your willpower and determination will get you there.
Thanks for sharing with us, Daniel, we’re excited to see what the future will bring for you and your training biz!
