Meet Silvie, one of Skimble’s newest featured Verified Trainers! She initially turned to yoga to alleviate pain, but ended up finding her true passion. Energized and rejuvenated, she found a way to a more balanced life. Since then this yogi’s practice has become a way for her to tap into a natural state of inner strength, which she loves to share with her clients and friends.
We recently had the chance to ask Silvie Hibdon some questions about her health journey and favorite moves.
Q 1. For starters, tell us how you got your start in fitness.
Silvie: I grew up overseas, in the Czech Republic. Movement has been a natural part of my life since an early age; playing basketball, climbing trees and dancing were my favorite things to do as a kid. Fascinated by human nature, I studied Applied Social Sciences with a focus on Expressive Arts Therapy and, later on, Communication Studies in the US. At the age of 13, I developed back pain and searched for ways to ‘make it disappear’. Eventually, I found yoga as a great way to alleviate my pain and it soon grew into something more transformative. This was over 10 years ago… and now my lifestyle revolves around yoga, as a teacher and a life-long learner. My yoga practice combines my passion for living healthy – engaging myself and others.
Q 2. What is your favorite yoga workout right now?
Silvie: My favorite yoga workout to do these days is “Stretch, Let Go & Feel Free!” It really helps me release and let go of whatever’s on my mind, while at the same time giving me a great workout with backbends, hip openers and hamstring stretches.
Q 3. When you aren’t striking beautiful yoga poses…
Silvie: I might be rock climbing at Mission Cliffs or Planet Granite, enjoying a sunny bike ride with my friends, or facilitating design challenges in San Francisco.
Q 4. How does the Workout Trainer app help you as a fitness professional?
Silvie: I used to email my clients lists of workouts with pictures that I found on the Internet, which was very time-consuming. Luckily, I don’t have to do that anymore! Workout Trainer lets me share workouts with my clients in the most succinct way. And, I can even send the workouts directly to them, which is really convenient.
Q 5. What is your favorite feature in Workout Trainer?
Silvie: My favorite feature in the app is ‘Workout Collections’ because it lets me compile similar workouts that I can recommend to my followers. This way they can receive a variety of workouts all at once.
Q 6. What keeps you motivated to stay fit?
Silvie: Investing in your health is just like investing in your education, retirement, or relationships. It’s equally important, if not more important!
Silvie: Do the sports that you love! Find something that brings you joy and makes you come alive.
