Workout Trainer members who have signed up for 1:1 Online Personal Training with a Skimble trainer now have the ability to send and receive HD video content as part of their training. Remote coaching has never been easier! With the increased ability to personalize your training sessions with video messages, online Trainers and Clients are working closer together than ever before.

Video sharing enhances your training relationship drastically when working with an online fitness coach; it can help you understand certain movements better to improve your form, share specific training tips, and relate to your trainer/client even more by seeing them ‘in action’. So let’s take a look at how it works!

HD Video Content

This new feature allows you to select the camera on your phone or tablet to record a video there and then. Alternatively, you can select any pre-recorded videos you have saved in the media library on your device. Your videos will be hosted in high-resolution and can be uploaded in both landscape and portrait mode, just make sure they do not exceed 15 minutes in length!

You also have the option to add a YouTube or Vimeo link and the video thumbnail will appear in the 1:1 Messaging Stream for each other to see.

Sharing Videos in the 1:1 Messaging Stream

Once you’re set up for 1:1 Training you’ll be able to share video content through the 1:1 Messaging Stream. Simply tap the ‘+’ icon to the left of the text field and select ‘Photo/Video’ from the menu options. From there you’ll have the above-mentioned options to share videos between clients and trainers.

We recommend that trainers and clients alike share an introductory ‘hello’ video with each other to kick off their coaching relationship.

This new feature helps members and trainers alike review their performance, and their clients’ performance, against past workouts. This will help measure progress over time, all the way down to the exercise level.

Workout Trainer by Skimble: Heart Rate Data OverviewMore specifically, you can select two different workouts you’ve completed and compare key metrics such as your overall BPM and HR zones, as well as exercise-specific BPM and HR zones. Get in the fat-burning zone when embarking on a new weight loss journey, or train to lower your resting heart rate during rest periods to progress in your athletic endeavors. Whatever your personal goal may be, monitoring your heart rate whilst exercising will help you see and feel the results faster.

Insight at this level can help inform you that you may want to tweak your workout to bump up the intensity as you make progress, perhaps adjusting weights or reps, and maybe swapping in a more challenging (or easier) version of an exercise.

Workout Trainer by Skimble: Compare and Analyze Heart Rate DataWe establish your HR Zones based on your Max Heart Rate, which is calculated based on your weight and heart rate over the course of each workout. The weight we use is the one you have added to Workout Trainer or shared through a health aggregator app like Apple Health, Google Fit, and Samsung Health.

Warm Up = 0-59% of HR Max

Fat Burn = 60-69% of HR Max

Vigorous = 70-79% of HR Max

VO2 Max is 80-100% of HR Max

You may want to target certain zones as you repeat workouts to hit your performance targets.

All-Time Heart Rate Stats

Workout Trainer by Skimble: Compare and Analyze Heart Rate DataOn top of being able to see how you are doing against past workouts, Workout Trainer now offers overall All-Time HR stats for you! With the latest app update, you can see your own All-Time HR stats on your home dashboard and on your Profile. You can also see these stats on the Profile pages of your Skimble friends and public members.

As a  PRO+ member, you will see your Heart Zones snapshot on your Home dashboard and profile. Once you tap through on these stats, you’ll see HR Summary graphs and HR Zone graphs for This Week, Last Week, This Month, and Last Month, as well as All-Time HR Stats. We also provide you with your Maximum Heart Rate for Week, Month, and All-Time.

Want to dig a little deeper? When you tap through on the Heart Rate Zone graphs, you will see a detailed chart view broken down by HR Zones.

On Android, remember that you’ll need to download the Workout Trainer companion app onto your smartwatch and make sure the two are synced before you start working out. If you’re using a bluetooth heart rate monitor on either platform, check that the device is sharing its heart rate data via bluetooth.

For smartwatch users, make sure you accept the permission to share heart rate date when you load a workout.

Start by completing the in-app Fitness Assessment to give us an idea of how active you currently are, what fitness goal you want to start with, and the types of training you’re interested in. You can complete the Fitness Assessment during sign-up or update at any time from the left side menu, in the Settings tab.

Update your gender, age, and weight in the Calories Burned section of the Settings tab. These measurements will help you get the most accurate statistics and tracking data as you progress through your fitness journey.

Creating training programs help trainers and fitness enthusiasts alike to organize their training schedule to fit in with their daily routine. Being organized is half the battle when embarking on a new fitness journey, so having a good structure in place is important to help you stick to your plan and achieve your goals faster. You can create your own custom training programs in the Workout Trainer app, and now you can also create programs on the web. Just head over to the Skimble website to start creating your first program from the comfort of your computer.

Select the Programs tab from the top header menu, then tap ‘Add New’ to get started. Here you can create custom training programs on our website the same way you would in the Workout Trainer app.

Start by selecting the language you want to use to create your program. We currently support localized versions of the app in English, Spanish, and Chinese. Come up with a creative name for your program, then write a description to summarize its purpose and select the difficulty of the program based on the average intensity of the workouts you’re using. Skip the Publishing and Privacy steps until you’re ready to go-live with your program.

Tap any day on the calendar to add a workout. You can search by name, category, popular workouts, or select one of your own created workouts. Choose the workout you want to include and it will be added to the calendar on the day you selected.

You can then tap on any workout scheduled on the calendar to replace, duplicate, or remove it. You can also add additional weeks to your program by tapping the gray button below the calendar.

When you’ve finished creating your custom training program, head back up to the top of the page to publish it. Select Public or Private from the drop-down menu before you save the program. We recommend creating private programs to send to your 1:1 training clients for their use only. This is a great marketing tool that can help you grow your online coaching business! You can also create public programs as teaser content to showcase on your profile and share with friends.

You can share your public programs on social media, or send private ones to clients directly on the web. Tap the blue Skimble Share button, select one of your clients, and hit send! Creating Programs is a PRO+ feature. Make sure you’ve completed at least one workout in the app first to be able to access program creation on our website. Verified Trainers with a PRO+ membership can create programs on the web right away, just submit your personal trainer certifications to get verified and start using our Trainer Tools to grow your business.

Our Workout Trainer community spoke, and we’ve listened! Here’s a much sought-after feature that will benefit trainers and fitness enthusiasts alike. The Workout Trainer app gives you the ability to create content anywhere, anytime, but sometimes you just want to get behind your computer and smash out some workouts.

Did you know that you can now create workouts on the web? Head on over to the Skimble website and start creating your first workout from the comfort of your computer. Select the Workouts tab from the top header menu, then tap ‘Add New’ to get started. Here you can create workouts on our website the same way you would in the Workout Trainer app.

Create your workout by adding a Set and fill it with the exercises you want. You can select moves from our extensive database just like you would in the Workout Trainer app. You can search by name, equipment, muscle group, popular exercises, or even incorporate any of the unique exercises you’ve created in the app. Select the exercise you want to include and set the playback options before tapping ‘Save’. Here you can choose the duration of each exercise or the number of reps you want to be performed.

At the top of each exercise set, you can adjust the number of rounds, as well as delete, duplicate, and reorder them. Remember, you can add timed and rep-based exercises with custom playback options to any set. Copy, duplicate, and rearrange as you see fit until you’ve perfected your sweat session!

When you’ve finished creating your workout, head back up to the top of the page to select a cover photo. Simply tap the gray square and you’ll be able to choose an image associated with one of the exercises you’ve included in your workout. When you’re ready, make sure the Published toggle is green and select Public or Private from the drop-down menu below. Create public workouts as teaser content to showcase on your trainer profile or member profile so potentials clients and friends can instantly access them. Create private workouts to send to your 1:1 training clients for their use only, or even for your own personal use. This is a great marketing tool that can help you grow your online coaching business!
