Meet Staci Brown, Skimble‘s featured Trainer! Staci grew up around a number of strong, healthy women and was inspired to help others feel empowered by their own health. We recently had the chance to chat with Staci and learn about her focus on Functional Training and Women’s Fitness.
Tell us a bit about your background and where you’re from.
Staci: I’m from Chicago, Illinois and grew up in a small southern suburb outside of the city. I have my B.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis on preventative and rehabilitative exercise science. I’ve been in the fitness industry for the past 13 years and it brings me joy to help others achieve their personal fitness goals.
What inspired you to become a personal trainer?
Staci: My mom was a bit of a health nut growing up, she was always at the gym and that rubbed off on me. I saw that she was much healthier than my friends’ parents so I wanted to help more people achieve what she had.
What are your training specialties?
Staci: Functional Training and Women’s Fitness are my specialties.
Why did you choose to certify with ACE and NASM?
Staci: While I was in college, my program advisor recommended these two. I happily followed the advice because I wanted to have recognizable and widely accepted certifications to my name.
How did you first hear about Workout Trainer?
Staci: The app came with my Samsung phone. I was intrigued by the platform so I decided to check it out.
What’s your favorite feature in the app?
Staci: I love creating workouts in Workout Trainer because the library is very extensive and full of great exercises. If I can’t find what I’m looking for, I can just create my own exercises to add.
How do you use Workout Trainer as a part of your coaching business?
Staci: I use the app for my own fitness planning as well as a way to recommend workouts to my clients.
What keeps you motivated to stay fit yourself?
Staci: In my experience, a lack of physical activity leads to more health issues affecting my body so I try to be proactive instead of being reactive to my own health.
Finally, can you share a secret health/fitness tip with the Skimble community…
Staci: The more healthy meals you eat, the more calories you burn! So munch away 🙂
