Quick Start Wizard

Whether you’re looking to find a one-off killer workout to smash out in your spare time or a comprehensive multi-week training program to keep you motivated for the next couple of weeks, you can always rely on our Search Features and Quick Start Wizard to throw out some great suggestions tailored to your individual needs. On iOS, navigate to the Workouts or Programs tab and select ‘Quick Start’ to begin. You’ll be prompted to answer a few simple questions about duration, difficulty, and equipment constraints, etc. before being served a great variety of content to match your specifications.

Advanced Search Features

On iOS and Android, you can also use keywords to search for specific workouts and programs in Workout Trainer. Simply type what you’re looking for into the Search Bar by tapping on the ‘Magnifying Glass’ at the top of the screen. For any of your search results, we now provide a simple way to Sort them by Relevance, Featured, Newest, Most Completed, and Most Liked. To further customize your results, check out the new Filter feature to specify elements such as Target Muscles, Time, Equipment, etc. and discover the best matches to help you achieve your goals.

2020 has sparked a global uptake in online training, a change that many believe is here to stay! With an increasing number of Trainers and community members using multi-week training programs to schedule their at-home workouts, we wanted to highlight the convenience of our custom program creation features in Workout Trainer. Let’s welcome 2021 by hitting our New Year fitness resolutions from the comfort of our homes, together!

Custom Program Creation On Mobile

Download the Workout Trainer app on your AndroidiOS devices and you’ll be able to dive straight in. With our latest update, PRO+ members can create custom training programs with a few quick taps and send them to their fitness crew or personal training clients, wherever they are. You can even keep track of their progress and hold them accountable along the way.

To get started, navigate to the ‘Programs’ tab and select the ‘+’ icon in the top right corner. Come up with an appropriate name and write a brief description about the training program. You can also indicate the general intensity of the workouts in this program by selecting casual/moderate/intense.

Next, create your program by adding workouts to the calendar. You can add more than one workout on a single day in any program. You can also move, copy, and delete training days from here – including days with multiple scheduled workouts. By tapping the ‘…’ icon next to each workout, you can move the individual workout to another day or remove it entirely. If you need a quick refresher on how to create training programs in Workout Trainer, please refer to our short video tutorial on YouTube.

Workout Trainer by Skimble: Create Custom Programs on Mobile and Web

You can now also upload your own cover images to programs you’ve created. Tap the image icon at the top of the screen to choose a cover image from the library on your device. When you are ready, use the toggle at the top right to publish the program as ‘Private’ or ‘Public’. Private programs can only be viewed by the clients you send them to, whilst Public programs can be used as a teaser for anyone to find on your profile.

Custom Program Creation On Web

If you prefer doing your client programming or creating your own personal workout schedules on a desktop or laptop, you can also use our custom program creation tools on the Skimble website. Sign up for a new account or log in to your existing account and follow these simple steps below to create your first program on the web.

Select the Programs tab from the top header menu, then tap ‘Add New’ to get started. Here, you can create custom training programs on our website the same way you would in the Workout Trainer app.

Start by selecting the language you want to use to create your program. We currently support localized versions of the app in English, Spanish, Chinese, and French. Come up with a creative name for your program, then write a description to summarize its purpose and select the difficulty of the program based on the average intensity of the workouts you’re using. Skip the Publishing and Privacy steps until you’re ready to go live with your program.

Tap any day on the calendar to add a workout. You can search by name, category, popular workouts, or select one of your own created workouts. Choose the workout you want to include and it will be added to the calendar on the day you selected. You can then tap on any workout scheduled on the calendar to replace or remove it, add additional workouts to the same day, or copy the entire day. You can also add additional weeks to your program by tapping the gray button below the calendar.

When you’ve finished creating your custom training program, head back up to the top of the page to publish it. Select Public or Private from the drop-down menu before you save the program. We recommend creating private programs to send to your 1:1 training clients for their use only. This is a great marketing tool that can help you grow your online coaching business! You can also create public programs as teaser content to showcase on your profile and share with friends.

You can share your public programs on social media, or send private ones to clients directly on the web. Tap the blue Skimble Share button, select one of your clients, enter a message, and hit send! Creating Programs is a PRO+ feature. Make sure you’ve completed at least one workout in the app first to be able to access program creation on our website. Verified Trainers with a PRO+ membership can create programs on the web right away, just submit your personal trainer certifications to get verified and start using our Trainer Tools to grow your business.

Each time you complete a workout, you’ll be able to see the number of Activity Points you’ve earned on the Workout Summary page. If you have a smartwatch or Heart Rate monitor, don’t forget to connect it so you get more points for your training sessions. The more time you spend in higher Heart Rate zones, the more Activity Points you’ll earn. It’s that simple!

Any workout you complete with a smartwatch or Heart Rate monitor will get counted on the Heart Rate Leaderboard. All workouts, including HR ones, will get counted on the All Workouts Leaderboard. Check your current position at any time by tapping the ‘Leaders’ option in the ‘Community’ tab.

Great! When can I start?

The Leaderboard resets at the beginning of every month so you can get a fresh start and try to best your previous month! You can also jump in at any point during the month… the key is to simply keep doing workouts on a regular basis.

You sure can! You will still be able to earn activity points even if you are doing casual-level workouts. We designed the leaderboard to be as inclusive as possible so every exercise completed will earn you points. Workouts are plentiful so just find something that works for you and keep moving!

Can I invite my friends to join my Leaderboard?

Absolutely! Rally your friends to train with you in Workout Trainer. It’ll help you hold yourself (and your friends) accountable whilst making your weekly workouts so much more fun. Send workout recommendations to each other, share fitness selfies, and ‘like’ the progress you’re making together! To invite friends to join you, head to the Community tab > tap the Friends option > + Friends. All of the friends you follow will then start getting ranked along with you each month. Head over to your personalized Friends Leaderboard within the Leaderboard section and how you stack up on the Home tab!

With an increasing number of Trainers and community members using multi-week training programs to schedule their at-home workout routine, we wanted to highlight some exciting new program features in our latest Workout Trainer app update.

Community Created Programs

All Skimble members can now discover more programs to do in the new Community Created programs section. Simply head over to the ‘Programs’ tab at the bottom of your screen, then select ‘Community Created’ from the menu options and browse hundreds of community-created programs shared by Trainers and fellow Skimblers.

Multiple Workouts in One Day

When creating your own custom training programs, PRO+ members can now add more than one workout on a single day in any program. Select a day in your calendar to add a new workout; it doesn’t matter if you already have a workout scheduled on that same day. Simply tap ‘Add a Workout’ to add multiple workouts to any given day in your program. You can move, copy, and delete training days from here – including days with multiple scheduled workouts. By tapping the ‘…’ icon next to each workout, you can also move the individual workout to another day or remove it entirely. Upload Program Cover Images

Last but not least, PRO+ members can now upload their own cover images to programs they’ve created in the past or are planning to create in the future. Select the program you want to tweak and tap the ‘…’ icon in the top right corner to edit the program. Next, tap the image icon at the top of the screen to choose a cover image from the library on your device. Pro Tip: Select an appealing image that reflects the goal/target of your program so that community members or potential clients are drawn in when they are searching for new programs. Add your program title directly onto your image before uploading with built-in editing tools on your phone or some of these great, free apps.

Workout Trainer: How to Prepare for Coronavirus

As the coronavirus becomes the #1 topic around the globe, we’d like to help our members understand some basic guidelines and tips that can aid in actively reducing our risk of exposure. We all have information coming at us from thousands of sources, but it’s important that we cut through the noise and understand what’s accurate to help protect ourselves and the people around us. The New York Times recommends wearing a mask in public, socially distancing in public, and washing our hands vigilantly.

Wearing a Mask

Choose a mask that has two or more layers of washable fabric such as 100% cotton. Cover your mouth and nose with a snug fitting mask. It may also help to regularly wash your masks. Avoid wearing masks intended for hospital workers.

Wash Your Hands

Scrub your hands with soap whenever possible or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol as an alternative. Avoid using your hands when possible and instead try to use your knuckles on knobs/buttons and your shoulders to open doors, etc.

Social Distancing

Stay at home if you can, even if you’re feeling fighting fit! By reducing your interaction with others and avoiding social gathering places in general, you’ll be doing your part to help protect yourself as well as preventing the spread of this virus. If it’s absolutely necessary to go out, avoid using public transportation when possible. If you need to get some fresh air, go for walks alone or with your housemates but remember to keep a distance of six feet apart from others.

Sharing = Caring (Not in this Situation!)

The International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) recommends that gym/studio owners and their members can actively play a part in ensuring the cleanliness of their facilities. If you have equipment at home, make a point of bringing your own props like mats and blocks for your next class. Clean public surfaces and gym equipment with a disinfectant in between classes or sessions.

We’re all doing our part to prevent the spread of the coronavirus as best we can, but most importantly, let’s all try to stay sane and healthy in the midst of this chaos.
